On 17 November 2014 Jos de Blok received the Albert Medal of the Royal Society of Arts (RSA) in London. The RSA awarded it for “a transformational new model of community health care”: the way Buurtzorg's small, self-managing teams of nurses care for people in their own neighborhood.
The RSA also made him a Life Fellow.
About the medal
The Albert Medal has been awarded since 1864, in memory of Prince Albert, who was President of the RSA for eighteen years. Earlier recipients include Michael Faraday, Marie Curie, Stephen Hawking and Tim Berners-Lee.
